Butler Community College has announced the creation of a scholarship fund in honor of a professor who lost her life in the January 29th crash of an American Airlines flight out of Wichita.
Lindsey Fields, 40, was a biology professor at the college, and she was a department chair and president-elect of the National Association of Biology Teachers. She was among the 67 people who were killed in the mid-air collision of American Airlines Flight 5342 and an Army helicopter near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. Butler officials said she was traveling to represent the NABT community and advocate for excellence in life science education.
The scholarship fund was created to support future science students.
