Today, we salute Kansas Veteran Briant Lewis. Born and raised in Emporia, it only took a couple of years at Emporia State for Briant’s life to go in a different direction. Some of his friends were in the Marines, and he was looking for a challenge and found it. Briant enlisted in 1969, ended up in the Marine Corps Sea School, and then landed on the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany for two of his three years of service. When he left the service, he went back to school armed with a set of new tools that helped him work hard, communicate with others, and get the job done. Briant worked at Beechcraft for many years before retiring and says he appreciates getting recognition for his service from his fellow Kansans when he wears his hat. Thank you for sharing your story, Briant, and THANK YOU for your service.
