Today, we salute Army Veteran Marie Cannon. Marie had originally planned to join the Navy as a hospital corpsman. However, plans changed and Marie ended up joining the Army Security Agency. She said her most important military lesson was that you can fail, but you have to get back up and achieve your goal. Marie’s expertise led to roles in personnel, logistics, and communications, eventually culminating in her selection for the White House Communications Agency. She spent 20 ½ years in the Army, providing support to Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Vice President Dan Quayle. Marie achieved the rank of Sergeant Major, a distinction earned by less than 1% of Army enlisted personnel. Recently, Marie was presented with a Quilt of Valor by the Quilts of Valor group in her area. Congratulations, Marie, and THANK YOU for your service.
