Today, we salute World War II Veteran James Mardin. James joined the National Guard in High School, and his first assignment was guarding guns at Fort Williams in his home state of Maine. James said he became bored, so he decided to go overseas. These days, James can be found at the Maine Military Museum in Portland, Maine, where he is known as a ‘living artifact.’ Friday, he celebrated his 103rd birthday. What’s his secret for living so long? James says to eat dark chocolate, stay light-hearted, and roll with whatever life throws at you. Happy Birthday, James, and THANK YOU for your service.
