A federal judge is putting a temporary hold on President Trump’s executive order that would end automatic citizenship for infants born in the U.S.
Trump signed an executive order Monday that would limit birthright citizenship to children who have at least one parent that is either a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
At least five different lawsuits have been filed over the executive order. A Seattle U.S. District Judge heard arguments Thursday in a lawsuit filed by Arizona, Illinois, Oregon and Washington, and called the executive order “blatantly unconstitutional.”
