A judge has given a Wichita man almost 25 years in prison for the beating death of a homeless man in 2022.
A sentence of 297 months was given to 34-year-old Abel Molina. He was convicted in a jury trial in September of second degree murder possession of methamphetamine.
Molina is the second man convicted in the case. A jury convicted 66-year-old David Chandler of second degree murder in 2022 and he was sentenced to almost 19 years in prison.
Police found 30-year-old Blake Barnes at a bridge in the 600 block of North Seneca in February of 2022, and he died later at a hospital. A witness helped police in tracking down Chandler and Molina.
