Let’s go to Nashville, Tennessee, for the AWESOME today. Trevor Phillips never imagined a chance encounter with discarded flowers would lead to a mission of joy. Three years ago, he spotted a dumpster brimming with blooms. He told a neighbor who suggested that he take them to a nursing home. He did, and the joy on the faces of the recipients was all it took for an idea to be born. Word spread about his good deed, and a local florist reached out with a game-changing offer: whenever they cleaned out their coolers, they’d let him take the unsold flowers. Armed with more blooms than ever, Trevor created Flower the People, a volunteer-driven initiative delivering bouquets to seniors in nursing homes. What started as a simple act of kindness has grown into a movement. Today, Flower the People serves over 40 senior living facilities across three cities. Trevor says, “When I get back [from delivering], it just reminds me of what’s important,” and Trevor, THAT’S AWESOME.
