The U.S. Attorney for Kansas, Kate Brubacher, has submitted her resignation to President Biden, effective January 19th.

Brubacher is stepping down as the Trump Administration prepares to take office on January 20th.   She was the 42nd Presidentially-appointed U.S. Attorney, taking office in March of 2023, and she is the first woman to serve in the office.   She said it has been a high honor to serve the people of Kansas and she expressed thanks to President Biden for nominating her and to Kansas Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall for their support.

In a statement issued Friday, Brubacher said she has overwhelming respect for the career attorneys, professional staff and the dedicated law enforcement officers who work to protect the public and uphold the Constitution.  She said they have worked with her to confront the fentanyl epidemic and keep Kansans safe from violent crimes.   She said she looks forward to seeing the continued success of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the year’s ahead.
