A former Burlington High School teacher and high school wrestling coach has been sentenced in a case involving the sexual abuse of two teenagers.
A judge in Coffey County sentenced 32-year-old Michael Vander Linden to 36 months in prison and lifetime registration as a registered offender for three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Vander Linden pleaded no contest to the three counts last October, and other charges were dismissed.
Kansas Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Vander Linden in February of 2024, after two former students reported that he had engaged in sexual intercourse with them in 2012 and 2013, when both were 15 years of age.
