Organizers of Wichita’s Riverfest have announced the winning poster art for this year’s event.
Local artist Terry Twomey submitted the design that was chosen for Riverfest posters, buttons and other promotional materials. He created a nostalgic look for the design, and he said in a press release, . “I think of the Riverfest as a giant block party, with people spending time together. I wanted the poster to be fun, busy, musical and colorful with lots of people doing all sorts of things at once.”
Twomey has been a professional graphic artist for 25 years and this is the ninth time he has entered the poster contest.
The 53rd Riverfest runs from May 30th to June 7th, and it will feature crowd favorites such as the Sundown Parade, the River Run and three firework shows over the nine-day festival. Admission buttons will be available in the spring.
