A Wichita man is facing charges after a weekend disturbance at a north side home.
A man called 911 around 6:30 Sunday morning to report that a female friend was afraid for her safety, and he heard gunshots when he was talking to her on the phone. Police went to a home in the 13-hundred block of North Estelle. They heard gunshots coming from inside the home, and the woman inside continued talking to her friend on the phone who relayed information to 911 dispatchers. The Kansas Highway Patrol helped in securing the area around the home.
The 46-year-old man who was firing the shots left the home and officers took him into custody. He was booked on a number of charges, and police said he was wearing an ankle monitor and he had been prohibited from possessing a firearm.
