Today, it’s off to Long Island, NY for the AWESOME.  It’s safe to say Kayla Masotto had an unforgettable end to 2024. She and her sister were relaxing on her couch when, out her window, she saw a man fall through the ice. Without hesitation, in her pajamas and slippers, Kayla rushed to help. She grabbed her paddle board, thinking that if she could get herself and the board out on the thin ice far enough, she could push the board close to help the man. She did, and he climbed aboard. Then, neighbors and strangers threw them a rope to pull them both to the shore. The man was treated for minor hypothermia and has made a full recovery. Reflecting on the rescue, Kayla shared a poignant message: “This is what I want the message to be going into 2025: we all need to look out for each other and help each other.”  Proving that not all heroes wear capes, they wear slippers too, Kayla, THAT’S AWESOME.
