A restaurant in Wichita’s Delano neighborhood was left with heavy damage after a pickup crashed into the business early Thursday. No injuries were reported.
The Monarch at 579 West Douglas reported damage to its office area. In a post on social media, the business said a wall was destroyed where a supply of bourbon was kept, but a few intact bottles were found underneath the rubble. Phone service was disabled to the restaurant and crews worked to board up damaged windows.
The restaurant is closed for the day, but it was expected to reopen Friday.
The 25-year-old driver of the pickup was arrested for driving under the influence.
