Police have a 30-year-old man in custody after a fatal early morning crash in south Wichita.
Officers were called to a one-vehicle crash around 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of South Mosley. They found a car that had collided with several trees and a front-seat passenger, identified as 22-year-old Lanashia Clay of Wichita, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 25-year-old woman from the back seat was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver was taken to a hospital, and after treatment, he was arrested for involuntary manslaughter, aggravated battery-DUI, and driving after a suspension. Police said alcohol and drugs are suspected to be contributing factors in the crash.
