Today, the Awesome comes from Atlanta, Georgia. Army Veteran and former Army band member Wayne Hoey was in the right place at the right time. The place was flight 1238, delayed on the tarmac in Atlanta. Tensions began to rise, and Wayne decided to do something about it. He entertained the crowded plane by playing Christmas carols on his saxophone. His performance transformed the mood on the plane, with passengers clapping and singing along, creating a festive atmosphere. After retiring from the military, Hoey pursued music education and now serves as a substitute music teacher in Augusta, Georgia. Turning a negative into a positive with the power of music THAT’S AWESOME.
