The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office kicked off its annual food basket drive on Wednesday to provide meals for families in need.
Volunteers gathered at the Dillon’s Warehouse near 215th Street West and Kellogg in Goddard to begin packaging food items.
The drive is made possible through donations from citizens and local partners, and it will provide 400 families with two boxes of various food items for the Christmas holiday season. Nominations for recipient families were made by community members and first responders. Dillon’s has donated materials, facility space and personnel to help with the drive.
Volunteers from the Sheriff’s Office, the Sedgwick County Fire District, EMS, and 911 Dispatch will help with the packaging and delivery of the food boxes.
