Police are investigating a drive-by shooting incident that happened early Thursday in a neighborhood in southeast Newton.
Officers were sent to a location on SE Fourth Court, near SE 4th and Kansas, after a report of shots fired around 3:45 a.m. They found a number of shell casings in the street and a home had been hit a number of times by gunfire. No one was hurt.
Police also found that a vehicle at a house next door was also hit by gunfire. It’s believed a disturbance took place at the home that led to the shooting. Officers got a search warrant for the house and two vehicles, and they recovered evidence related to the shooting. At this time, the suspects are unknown.
