The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced delays for eight highway expansion and modernization projects that are in the construction pipeline under the Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program.

One of the projects is the East Kellogg project from I-35 and 127th Street East to 159th Street East.  The project will widen Kellogg to six lanes, and the timeline has been moved back from the first quarter to the fourth quarter of 2025.  The revised schedule will provide additional time to address specific project issues, including the acquisition of right-of-way, relocation of utilities, and the management of construction cost inflation.

Projects to improve K-42 in Sumner County, to rehabilitate the roadway and add shoulders, have been moved back to 2026 and 2027.

KDOT Secretary Calvin Reed said in a press release,  “Our focus is on building a reliable transportation network for our communities, and we recognize that large-scale programs such as IKE must be able to adapt to be successful.”
