Construction begins Monday, November 18th on a project to improve travel safety on a busy Sedgwick County roadway.
There will be two phases of construction on Ridge Road, from 53rd Street North to 69th Street North. Crews will be working to widen the shoulders and lessen the slope of the ditches.
The first phase will involve the section of Ridge Road from 61st to 69th. Crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and there will be a single lane of traffic with a pilot car and flaggers leading traffic through the construction zone. When the construction is not being done, Ridge Road will be open to two-way traffic with reduced speeds and reduced lane widths.
The work is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025, and drivers should watch for detours and delays. When the work is completed, Ridge Road will have wider, paved shoulders and flatter slopes on the ditches, making it easier for a car to pull over if necessary.
