Today, we salute Army Veteran Jessie Echaury. After serving in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan in 2016, the Cal State Fullerton student knew he wanted to help the Veteran community. Specifically, he wanted to help Veterans struggling with substance abuse issues. First, Jessie had to deal with his own challenges because, like many Veterans, the transition from military to civilian life was hard. He overcame feeling overwhelmed and found support through the Veterans Resource Center. Jessie is currently president of the Student Veterans of America chapter at CSUF and helps organize social events and service projects to strengthen connections among veterans and increase awareness of their contributions on campus. He has his eyes set on pursuing his master’s degree in social work. Thank you for helping Veterans Jessie and THANK YOU for your service.
