The Kansas Bureau of Investigation said a death is under investigation at the Northeast Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Junction City.
A 17-year-old boy from Dodge City was found unresponsive Tuesday morning, and staff began medical treatment before Geary County EMS crews took over. The teen was later pronounced dead during transport to a local hospital.
The teen had been at the detention facility since early August as a result of a child in need of care case. The KBI will work with detention officials to investigate the death.
