Sedgwick County voters elect two new commissioners

Two new county commissioners will take office in Sedgwick County in January.

In Tuesday’s general election, former Wichita City Council member Jeff Blubaugh defeated Democratic incumbent Sarah Lopez to claim the District 2 commission seat.  Blubaugh had 17,593 votes in the unofficial results, while Lopez captured 13,761.

In District 3, Republican Stephanie Wise defeated Democrat Celeste Racette by a two-to-one margin.  Wise had 32,431 votes while Racette had 15,733.

Sedgwick County voters overwhelmingly chose incumbent Ron Estes in the 4th District Congressional race.  Estes had 120,663 votes to defeat Democratic challenger Esau Freeman, who captured 78,703 votes.

The provisional ballots will be reviewed and counted at a vote canvass on November 14th, and the results will be certified on November 18th.
