A Wichita man has been sentenced to two years in prison for a 2023 shooting that happened outside a church.
A sentencing hearing was held Monday for 20-year-old Demetrious Carter, who pleaded guilty in August to two counts of aggravated endangering of a child. The sentence will run consecutively to a 92-month sentence he received for ramming a police car, bringing his total sentence to nine years and eight months.
Carter was charged in connection with a June 16th, 2023 shooting outside New Life Church at 1156 North Oliver. Police said Carter had been turned away from a funeral service and he began shooting into a group of people. Some in the group fired back, injuring Carter. No one else was hurt.
