Damage cleanup is underway after a series of tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma. The National Weather Service said at least 12 tornadoes were reported in Oklahoma early Sunday morning. The three largest tornadoes caused widespread damage to southeast Oklahoma City, Newcastle, Harrah and Choctaw. At least 11 injuries have been reported.
Authorities now say the tornadoes damaged at least 136 structures. Of them 39 were destroyed, 43 received major damage and 54 received minor damage. The storms knocked out power to thousands, but much of that is back in service. Monetary damages are still being compiled.
Strength estimates are still being compiled, but officials now say the twister that devastated Harrah was probably an EF-3. The ratings won’t be official until damage assessments are complete. The twisters caused some power lines to intertwine. Vehicles were tossed like trash and some mobile homes and campers are nothing but contorted metal.
