Today, we salute Vietnam War Marine Veteran Dan McDowell. For Dan, like many Veterans of the Vietnam War, returning home was bittersweet. He was alive, but he did not receive the welcome he was expecting. To add insult to injury, the medals he earned and the medals he deserved were never given. Despite all that, Dan said he was grateful to never have developed PTSD. Everything changed Friday when Dan, while surrounded by family, finally received those medals all these years later, including a Purple Heart. Dan said having family there, meant a lot. Congratulations on those long overdue medals, Dan, and THANK YOU for your service.
