The Kansas Attorney General’s Office said a 49-year-old Pratt man will serve more than 21 years in prison for the stabbing of his estranged wife and a chase with law enforcement officers.

A guilty plea was entered by Samuel Lee Hall to attempted murder,  two counts of aggravated child endangerment, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer.

Prosecutors said on April 2nd, Hall entered a Pratt hotel room and attacked his estranged wife, Ana Oviedo-Baltazar, with a knife, stabbing her several times while her two minor children slept next to her. An adult child also was assaulted by Hall.

After the assault, Hall fled from the hotel in his truck, leading law enforcement on a chase through Pratt.  He intentionally struck officer vehicles with his truck, before law enforcement disabled the truck. As officers attempted to take Hall into custody, he kicked one of the officers, causing injury.

Hall was sentenced to 261 months in prison.   He had been placed on probation for a domestic violence assault against Oviedo-Baltazar that happened before the incident at the hotel.
