Today, the AWESOME is in Ireland. In 1999, Philip Waring started working at McDonald’s just down the street from his home, a place that supported adults with Down Syndrome and other intellectual and developmental challenges. Over the next 25 years, Philip kept the place spotless and was always quick to welcome customers and coworkers with a smile. After 25 years of dedicated service, where he rarely missed a day of work, he was celebrated by his boss, coworkers, and some regular customers as they threw Philip a retirement party. Philip said, “It was a lovely party, and my dad and sister Stephanie came, and some people who I hadn’t seen for a while. It was lovely, and thank you to my boss, Paul, for the party, as it was very special. I will miss everyone.” It is everyone who will miss you Philip, and THAT’s AWESOME.
