The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Wesley Healthcare, and other agencies are participating in a national program to collect unused prescription drugs for disposal.

The Drug Enforcement Administration is sponsoring National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. DEA and its local law enforcement partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs.

Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will have collection sites at the Sheriff’s Office squad room at 830 W. Stillwell, Oaklawn Activity Center at 4904 S. Clifton and the Sedgwick County Zoo.

Wesley Healthcare announces that it is hosting its 6th Annual “Crush the Crisis” prescription drug take-back day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday to help raise awareness about the dangers of prescription drug misuse and the importance of safe and proper disposal of unused or expired medications. The event, which coincides with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, offers the community an opportunity to safely and anonymously dispose of medications before they fall into the wrong hands. Wesley will hold its collection area at the Main Entrance drive-through, right off Hillside.

Other collection sites can be found at the web site deatakeback.com
