The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and the Derby Police Department will work together on a sobriety checkpoint to watch for drunk drivers.

The checkpoint will begin Friday night at 10:30 and continue until 2:30 a.m. Saturday.   A location was not revealed for the checkpoint.

Drivers suspected of intoxication will be given on-site field sobriety tests.  The operation will be conducted to limit any disruptions to traffic flow, but many drivers will be stopped during the four hours of the program.

The Sheriff’s Office is planning other checkpoints throughout the year in different areas of the county to try to reduce the number of DUI-related crashes.
