Kansas corrections officials are investigating the death of an inmate at the El Dorado Correctional Facility.
Prison officials said 40-year-old Brooks Vonthayer was found unresponsive in his cell Tuesday afternoon. An autopsy has been ordered and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation will work with corrections officials to investigate the death.
Vonthaer was serving a 62-month sentence for four convictions of aggravated assault, criminal trespass, theft, and criminal damage in Shawnee County.
