Today, we salute Army Veteran Kevin Bittenbender. While on one of his more than 200 combat missions in Afghanistan during his 34 years of service, he was asked by a fellow soldier what he wanted his legacy to be. Kevin said he wanted to take time to think about his answer. He never got to share that answer because his friend was killed in an ambush the next day. Kevin returned home with PTSD and his body failing him due to infections from burn pits, ultimately he lost his leg. On the verge of taking his own life, he decided he wanted his legacy to be to honor those who sacrificed their lives. With the help of his doctor, he trained for and ran his first marathon.
