Textron workers from Local 774 of the Machinists union have voted to ratify a new contract offer from the company. The contract covers nearly 5,000 members across three campuses in Wichita, and the union members will return to work beginning Wednesday, Oct. 23.
The new offer that Local 774 members voted on over the weekend includes a fifth year, as several members were adamant about not having a contract expire in an election year. The key highlights of the contract are:
-
Maintaining major manufacturing operations in Wichita
-
A 31% general wage increase over the life of the contract with an 11% wage increase immediately upon ratification. The company has wage growth charts that model how this wage increase is compounded over the life of the contract so employees can see the substantial impact to their paycheck. Additionally, it includes a
-
4% wage increase in 2025
-
5% wage increase in 2026
-
6% wage increase in 2027
-
And a new 5% wage increase in 2028
-
This is in addition to the 4% increase the company voluntarily provided in 2022, when inflation was at its height
-
-
Cost of living adjustment (COLA) maximum more than doubles from the previous contract from $700 to $1,500 per year
-
A guaranteed $3,000 annual lump sum payment totals $15,000 for each employee over the life of the contract
-
New longevity pay that recognizes long-term employees
-
The company has capped increases on annual health insurance premiums for low and high deductible health plans

In a press release, Textron president and CEO Ron Draper said, “We are pleased to have ratified a contract with the IAM that offers our employees, their families and the Wichita community a shared future. We value our workforce and the work they do, and this agreement reflects our commitment to our team. The ratification of this contract marks a new chapter, and we are eager to move forward together.”
The Southern Territory General Vice President for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Craig Martin, issued a statement saying, “Our members know what matters to them and used their voices as the essential tool to gain more. Textron Aviation is a powerhouse in today’s market and needed to offer more. I am proud of our members in Wichita – they stood strong and won for their families and communities.”
The new offer will be backdated to Sept. 23 and will remain in effect until September 2029.
