Counties on Florida’s Gulf Coast are being ordered to evacuate as Hurricane Milton makes its way toward landfall. The Category 4 storm is expected to come ashore late Wednesday or early Thursday. The storm is currently packing maximum winds of 155 miles per hour.

The mayor of Tampa, Florida isn’t mincing words when it comes to the storm. Mayor Jane Castor was on CNN Monday night and said if anyone decides to stay in an evacuation zone, they are “going to die.” Castor also calls the storm literally catastrophic. The police chief in Tampa is calling Milton is the storm of the century.

FEMA is ready to respond to Hurricane Milton. The White House says the Federal Emergency Management Agency has the funding needed for Milton while still assisting in the recovery and rebuilding from Hurricane Helene. President Biden has approved Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ request for an emergency declaration.
