Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and the Kansas Division of Emergency Management have announced that another swift water search and rescue team will be sent to Florida in preparation for Hurricane Milton’s arrival.

Task Force 2 consists of personal from the Wichita Fire Department and fire departments in Salina, Chanute, Manhattan, Neodesha, and Shawnee.  Personnel from the State Fire Marshal’s Office,  Cherryvale and Johnson County will also be part of the task force.

The team will work to search for and rescue storm victims, provide basic life support and medical care, and provide for water rescue operations.

Task Force 1 was sent to Florida in response to Hurricane Helene, and it was later moved to North Carolina to help with rescue and recovery efforts.
