In just 36 hours, Milton has gone from a tropical storm with 60mph winds to a monster category 5 hurricane with life-threatening 155mph winds. The storm intensified so quickly that scientists are wondering if it could reach a strength that would add a category 6 to what might be an outdated way to measure storms.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There has been a tenfold increase in the use of “ghost guns” in crimes and that has led to the Supreme Court hearing its first oral arguments of the 2024-25 term today. The case, Garland v. VanDerStok, surrounds a 2022 regulation “ghost guns”—untraceable firearm components made through 3D printing, kits, and parts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As with many surveys, Wichita always seems to fall somewhere in the middle. In this case, out of 182 cities, Wichita ranks 102 for safety.

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you play Megamillions, the price of a ticket is going up.  Starting in April it will cost $5 per ticket. The reason is to create larger starting payouts and more frequent big jackpots.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With Halloween approaching, there is a new list of the most haunted houses in each state. While I would have guessed the Sallie House in Atchinson for the state of Kansas, the Eldridge Hotel in Lawrence gets the top spot. The Sallie House is going to be featured on an upcoming HGTV show called “Scariest Home in America.”
