A Wichita man has been sentenced to over 35 years in prison for a fatal shooting that happened last year at an east side club.
A judge sentenced 33-year-old Terrence J. Johnson to 427 months in prison with 36 month of post-release supervision. Johnson pleaded guilty in July to second degree murder and attempted first degree murder.
Johnson was arrested after an October 29th, 2023 shooting outside the Onyx Club near Kellogg and Webb Road. The shooting resulted in the death of 23-year-old Jaylon Pete of Wichita. Prosecutors said the two men had been talking outside the exit doors of the club when Johnson pulled a pistol and shot Pete twice. Johnson later fired random shots in the club’s parking lot and injured two men in their 20s.
