Police said the deaths of a man and woman in an east Wichita shooting incident are being investigated as a murder-suicide.
Officers from the Patrol East Bureau were flagged down around 3:40 Sunday morning by someone who reported that a gunman had broken into a residence in the 800 block of South Edgemoor. The gunman was reported to have made suicidal statements.
Officers went to the home but had no response from anyone inside. A SWAT team and a crisis negotiation team was sent to the home, but no contact was made. The SWAT team went into the home later and found a 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, dead from gunshot wounds. Police said the man and woman were former domestic partners. Their names have not been released.
