The Kansas Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a Texas woman who was convicted in the murders of a Wichita couple who disappeared from the Barton County Fair in 2018.

Kimberly Younger of Aransas Pass, Texas was convicted in 2021 of organizing and plotting the murders of 78-year-old Alfred “Sonny” Carpenter and 79-year-old Pauline Carpenter of Wichita.  The Carpenters disappeared from the Barton County Fair in July, 2018 and their bodies were found later in northwest Arkansas.  Four other people were tried and convicted in the killings.

Younger, 58, alleged errors at her trial in Barton County in allowing the testimony of a witness by remote and in failing to suppress statements she made after her arrest.  The Court ruled that her statements were admissible and the decision to allow the remote testimony was appropriate in light of the COVID-19 pandemic at the time.

Younger was sentenced to life without parole for a conviction of capital murder.
