A judge in St. Louis is blocking President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan from going forward. This comes one day after a federal judge in Georgia cleared the way for the plan by allowing a restraining order to expire.
Georgia and Missouri were among seven states that had filed a lawsuit claiming the student loan forgiveness plan was illegal.
The St. Louis judge, who was appointed by former President Trump, wrote that allowing the defendants to eliminate student loan debt would prevent courts from reviewing the matter on the back end. The restraining order will remain in effect until the judge makes his ruling.
