The Federal Emergency Management Agency has delivered over a million liters of water and over 600-thousand meals in North Carolina as the state recovers from the devastation left behind by the remnants of Hurricane Helene.

Over 90 search and rescue teams are also working across the state. Their efforts are greatly needed as at least 130 people are dead across six states, with a third of those deaths coming in Western North Carolina, including in the hard-hit town of Asheville.

Power outages from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene are still impacting much of the Southeast, with more than a million people spending another night in the dark.  Helene came ashore last week as a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane before going on its deadly trek across the South.

President Biden said he is deploying every available resource to the affected areas.  The president is expected to visit some of the communities hit by the hurricane later this week. There’s no word if Biden will visit Asheville, North Carolina where flooding is being described as “biblical.” At least 40 deaths are being reported in Asheville. Authorities are struggling to get an accurate count of the number of people missing with 90-percent of cell phone service still down in the area.
