A Wichita man is facing a number of charges for the shooting of a woman Monday near a south side elementary school.
During a court appearance, 46-year-old Vincent Solomon, Jr. was charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer, and interference with law enforcement. His bond was set at $750,000 and his next court appearance was scheduled for October 7th.
Solomon was released from a hospital on Wednesday and booked into jail. He is accused of shooting a 30-year-old woman during a domestic dispute near 45th Street South and Clarence around 9 a.m. Monday. Police said they had just dropped off their children at Cessna Elementary School. The woman was shot and ran toward the school, and police said Solomon followed her and tried to get into the school, but an employee locked the door. A Sedgwick County deputy confronted Solomon and fired two shots, then the deputy and two Wichita police officers subdued Solomon after a struggle.
The woman remains hospitalized and she is expected to survive her injuries.
