There will be closings affecting traffic on Interstate 135 in north Wichita over the next two weekends.
The Kansas Department of Transportation will make the first closure on Saturday, Sept. 21, with a temporary closure of southbound I-135 from the K-254 interchange to just past the K-96 interchange. In addition, northbound I-135 motorists will be required to exit onto eastbound K-96. These closures are necessary to erect a girder.
At 5 a.m. on Saturday, the ramp closures will begin, with completion expected late on Sunday, Sept. 22. During the closures, motorists can take westbound K-96 to northbound I-135. Detour signs will be in place to guide drivers to alternative routes. Motorists are advised to exercise caution while traveling through the area.
The closures will be repeated on Saturday, Sept. 28th with the same detours and times in effect.
