The FBI flag (Federal Bureau of Investigation) painted on a brick wall.

The FBI and the U.S. Postal Service are investigating mail containing a white powder sent to election offices in at least 17 states.  None of the mail turned out to be hazardous, but some offices were evacuated because of the scare. In one instance, the substance ended up being flour.

Election offices that received suspicious packages were in New York, Tennessee, Wyoming, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Colorado. There was also suspicious mail sent to offices in Arizona, Georgia, Connecticut, Maryland and Maine, but it was intercepted before it reached its destination.
