More school threats are under investigation in Kansas.
There was a stronger police presence at Newton schools Wednesday because of a possible threat of violence that was posted to social media over the weekend. Newton school officials said an Instagram post threatened an attack on a school building, and it appears to have come from out of state. They have been talking with students but the threat appears to be unsubstantiated.
Wellington School District officials said a person responsible for a threat over Snapchat has been identified as a high school student. Police in Dodge City said two Snapchat messages included threats to Comanche and Dodge City Middle Schools, and patrols are being increased around the schools as a precaution.
Threats were also being reported in Junction City this week, with a social media post that included names of students and staff members. There was extra security around schools, and a student was arrested for a threat against Junction City Middle School.
