The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued an emergency license suspension for a group day care facility in Wichita.
The order was issued Friday for His Loving Hands Home Childcare at 357 North Erie. The order is subject to appeal.
KDHE said in the order that the licensee of the facility has one child and two foster children, and one of the foster children was taken to a hospital around September 5th with superficial second degree burns to the legs, feet and other parts of the body. Law enforcement agencies were given inconsistent statements on the cause of the injuries, and that led police to take the other two children into protective custody. One child was found to have bruises and another had scratches.
The order states that in a later interview, the licensee admitted putting the injured child in a hot bathtub, resulting in the burn injuries. Police then arrested the licensee for one count of child abuse.
