Wichita police have recovered a stolen U-Haul trailer with about $21,000 worth of band equipment after an incident on the city’s east side.

Officers were called to the Springhill Suites hotel at 1220 North Greenwich Road on Friday, September 6th.   A band member reported that a U-Haul trailer attached to a passenger van had been stolen.   The van was parked at the hotel around 1 a.m. after the band performed at the Cotillion.  When band members returned to their vehicle around 7 a.m., they discovered that the trailer was missing.

Police were called later to an unrelated report of a stolen vehicle involving a Ford F-250, and they found a stolen U-Haul box truck with a Kansas tag.  It was determined that the truck had been involved in the theft of the band’s trailer.    Officers cut the lock on the stolen trailer and found the band equipment inside.

Most of the stolen band equipment was recovered, including band merchandise such as t-shirts and other items.  A Yamaha MX-49 keyboard and a cash box containing $1,300 are still missing.  No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
