The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that was reported Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 135 in northern Sedgwick County.
The crash was reported shortly before 4 p.m. on I-135 near 85th Street North, and traffic was slowed down in both directions.
Troopers said a northbound car struck another car from behind, then it went across the median into the southbound lanes where it hit a pickup head-on. The driver of the car, 21-year-old Katelyn Heier of Sedgwick, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported, although a passenger in the pickup had complained of pain after the crash.
