A second person has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man whose body was found in the trunk of a car in a west Wichita field.

Police said Wednesday they have arrested an 18-year-old woman for felony interference with a law enforcement officer and concealing, altering or attempting to destroy evidence.

The body of 39-year-old Kyce Barnes was found August 21st in the trunk of a car that had been left in a field in the 8200 block of West Irving, near Kellogg and Tyler Road.  Police determined that Barnes had been shot at a nearby motel.

The other suspect, 23-year-old Daitrez Birch of Wichita, has been charged with intentional and premeditated first degree murder.   He is in jail on a bond of $1 million and his next court appearance was scheduled for September 13th.
