11-year-old boy injured in north Wichita shooting

Shots were fired at a church building and a home in a north Wichita neighborhood early Saturday, and an 11-year-old boy inside the home was struck.

Officers reported hearing gunfire in the 1400 block of North Lorraine around 12:30 a.m.   A church building with four people inside was struck, but no one was hurt.   A nearby home was also hit by gunfire, and an 11-year-old boy suffered a head injury.  He was taken to a hospital and police said his condition was not life-threatening.

Police are still looking into the circumstances of the shooting, and anyone with information is urged to call WPD investigators at 316-268-4407.   People who want to remain anonymous can submit information to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
