During a court appearance Thursday in Butler County, two teenage girls pleaded not guilty to first degree murder charges in the murder of a 93-year-old woman.

The 14-year-old girls, both from Augusta, made their appearance by remote and they were identified only by the initials I.H. and A.W.   The judge denied a formal request to release an affidavit in the case, and the next court appearances for the girls have been scheduled for October 31st.

The teens are charged in the murder of Joanne Johnson, who was found dead in her Augusta home on Labor Day weekend, 2023.
